Notice for Classes Nursery-XII
(SPIC MACAY)
Dear Parents,
Sunbeam School, Mau cordially solicits your presence to witness an enthralling “Rajasthani Folk” performance by Shri Khete Khan Manganiyar and troupe at Sunbeam School, Mau on the 20th of April 2022 from 09:30 am.
The Manganiyars are muslim folk musicians of Rajasthan, particularly Barmer and Jaisalmer along the Indo-Pak border. They are known for their strong and powerful voice whether male or female. Having a unique folk style of music, these desert musicians have developed a set of distinct folk instruments such as Sarangi, Kamaycha, Satara, Nad and Morchang to accompany their formidable and magical voices.
This ethnic music has its own special identity and is recognised worldwide. There is an interesting relation between the performers and the Manganiyars. While the patrons of the Rajasthani music were invariably Hindus, the Langas and Manganiyars were always Muslims. This interesting relation between the performers and the patrons of Rajasthani folk music has brought forth a distinct new class identity.
This programme, an endeavour to introduce to the children Indian culture, is being conducted in association with Society for Promotion of Indian Classical Music & Culture Amongst Youth (SPIC MACAY).
